Most retreats send you home with a glow that fades by Friday. That isn’t a failure of willpower — it’s a failure of design. A great week can open a door, but a week alone can’t walk you through it. So we built the Signature Experience the way change actually happens: it starts before you arrive, deepens over five nights, and keeps going for ninety days after you leave.

Most retreats run one phase. We run three.
Every piece of the week — and the ninety days after it — sits inside one of these three phases. Nothing is decorative.

Preparation
Change starts before you pack a bag. Decades of behavior-change research point to the same quiet truth: people who name what they want — specifically, in writing, ahead of time — are far more likely to get there.
So your experience begins the moment you book. You take a research-grade assessment of how you’re actually doing: your energy, your sleep, your relationships, your sense of meaning. Then, on a short call with us, you set one clear intention for the week. Not a resolution. Not a list. One true sentence about what you want to be different.
By the time you drive through the gate at Barnsley, the ground has already been prepared — on purpose.

Immersion
Here’s the thing about habits: they’re glued to places. The kitchen where you snack. The desk where you scroll. The nightstand where the phone sleeps closer to you than anyone else. Researchers call these cues, and the fastest way to loosen an old pattern is to step away from every cue that keeps it running.
Five nights on three thousand quiet acres does exactly that. The days fill with the long table, the trails, the gardens, an evening at the fire as the sun goes down — and real rest, the kind most of our guests tell us they haven’t had in years.
And you do the deep work in a cohort of twenty-four, because hard things are easier when the people beside you are doing them too.

Reinforcement
Here’s a number most retreat brochures leave out: on average, a new habit takes about sixty-six days to feel automatic. Some take longer. Which means the drive home — the moment most retreats end — is exactly where the real work starts.
So for ninety days after your week at Barnsley, we stay with you: a monthly call with Jared and Annette, one small practice each week, and a cohort that already knows your story. Learning science calls this spacing — small doses, repeated over time, hold far better than one big dose ever does.
At day ninety, we measure again. So whatever changed isn’t just a feeling you’re trying to remember. It’s on paper.


(003) What We Measure
A before-and-after you can hold
Feelings are real, but they’re hard to see around. Numbers help. Before arriving, every guest takes a validated flourishing assessment — a well-studied set of questions about health, happiness, meaning, character, relationships, and financial stability. At day ninety, everyone takes it again.
And if you wear a Whoop, Oura, or Apple Watch, you can share that data too — resting heart rate, sleep, recovery — and see the before-and-after in your body’s own numbers.

The week plants it. The ninety days grow it. Here’s what follow-through actually looks like — all of it included.

Monthly calls
Once a month, the whole cohort gathers on a video call with Jared and Annette. We revisit the intention you set, celebrate what’s holding, and troubleshoot what isn’t.

Weekly practices
One small practice arrives each week. Never homework — always something that fits inside a real life. Ten minutes, most weeks. The point isn’t effort; it’s rhythm.

The letter
During the week, you write a letter to yourself. We keep it safe and mail it when you’re not expecting it. Our guests tell us it tends to arrive exactly when they need it.

The community
The twenty-three people who sat at the table with you don’t disappear at checkout. The cohort stays connected through the ninety days — and at day ninety, the door to the Santerra Circle opens.
